How to read the notebook

Publication, not live conditions

The date on each entry is when the note was published. Conditions described in the prose belong to that walk and may no longer be current.

Use the journal for chronology. Do not treat dates as a conditions report.

Broad editorial labels

Ridge path, creek bend, and old road are recurring landscape records rather than official route names. Exact coordinates are intentionally omitted.

The place index links every label to the notes in which it appears.

Visual field texture

Photographs establish terrain, season, and atmosphere. They illustrate the type of landscape described and are not presented as route documentation.

Image descriptions are provided for readers using assistive technology.

Quiet corrections, visible changes

Spelling and punctuation fixes are made quietly. A change that alters a date, place label, or material meaning is listed on the entry.

Writing, not field guidance

The notebook does not publish route instructions, current access information, safety advice, or claims about land status.

Readers remain responsible for current conditions, access rules, and outdoor judgment.
